About Us
Hi, We're Dreams Tutoring. We Help Students Finally "Get It."
For over two decades, our licensed educators have been doing one thing: helping Brooklyn students build the skills, confidence, and exam strategies they need to succeed — in the classroom, on the test, and beyond. Whether your child is in Grade 1 or Grade 12, we’re here to make learning feel possible again.
From the Classroom to the Community — Why We Started Dreams Tutoring
So she did something about it.
Dreams Tutoring? — 博學教育 — was built on a simple belief: every child learns differently, and every child deserves a teacher who has enough time to notice. Our small-group classes never exceed 10 students. Our one-on-one sessions are tailored to each child’s exact pace. And our teachers don’t just know their subjects — they know their students.
Today, Dreams Tutoring serves Brooklyn families across all grade levels, from Grade 1 through Grade 12, offering everything from foundational ELA and Math to rigorous SHSAT, SAT, and Mark Twain exam preparation.
What two decades in the classroom taught us: — Those years at FDR High School weren’t just experience — they were training. We’ve seen every type of learner, every type of struggle, and every kind of breakthrough moment. We know how to spot exactly where a student’s understanding breaks down, and we know how to fix it before it becomes a bigger problem. That’s the advantage that only comes from real classroom teaching — and it’s what we bring to every session at Dreams Tutoring.
Over 23 Years of Educational Excellence in Brooklyn
Ms. Sammie Kuang — Lead Educator & Founder
After teaching [subject/grade] at [school name] for [X] years, I loved seeing students succeed—but I was frustrated by what I couldn’t control. Class sizes of 30+ meant some kids slipped through the cracks. Standardized pacing meant we moved on before everyone was ready. Talented students sat bored while struggling students fell further behind.
In [year], I made the leap to private tutoring. Now I can give every student the individual attention they deserve, move at THEIR pace (not the district’s timeline), and actually fix the gaps instead of just moving past them.
- Licensed NYC teacher for 23 years at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Brooklyn
- Subjects taught: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
- 6,000+ students taught across her classroom and tutoring career
- Specializations: SAT prep, SHSAT prep, K–12 Math and ELA, Mark Twain exam preparation
Our Teaching Team
In addition to Ms. Kuang, Dreams Tutoring works with a carefully selected group of experienced educators, including colleagues who specialize in AP-level coursework, sciences, and advanced mathematics — ensuring every student is matched with the right instructor for their needs.
What sets a veteran educator apart
With over 6,000 students in her career, Ms. Kuang has seen every type of learner and every type of challenge. She can diagnose a learning gap in a single session that might take months to surface elsewhere. She knows the New York City curriculum inside and out — not from a training manual, but from over two decades of teaching it, refining it, and watching students conquer it.
Students have achieved dramatic SAT score improvements, including one student who progressed from a PSAT score in the 900s to an SAT score of 1330 after working with Dreams Tutoring
SHSAT and SAT students receive detailed score reports after every mock exam, so progress is always visible and measurable
Families regularly return with younger siblings — the best endorsement any tutor can receive
A Small, Dedicated Team. A Deeply Personal Experience.
Dreams Tutoring is not a corporate learning chain. We’re a small, close-knit team of licensed educators who know each other’s students, compare notes, and genuinely invest in every child’s progress.
Ms. Kuang leads the center and works directly with students across multiple subjects and grade levels. For specialized needs — including AP courses, advanced sciences, and subjects beyond Ms. Kuang’s focus — she works with trusted colleagues whose teaching philosophy aligns with Dreams Tutoring’s standards.
My Promise to You:
✓ Your child works with consistent, familiar teachers — not a rotating roster of part-timers
✓ Teachers communicate with each other about student progress
✓ We match each student to the instructor whose expertise and personality fit best
✓ If a student needs both small-group and one-on-one support, we make that seamless — no coordination headaches for parents

Why Brooklyn Families Trust Dreams Tutoring
Licensed, Experienced Teachers
Every instructor at Dreams Tutoring is a licensed, experienced educator — not a college student supplementing their income or a tutor rotating through multiple centers. When your child sits down for a lesson, they are working with a professional whose career is built on teaching.
Small Groups With an Individual Touch
Our Saturday and Sunday group classes hold a maximum of 10 students — and we don’t just “teach to the middle.” During classwork, students progress at their own pace. The teacher checks each student’s work individually, provides targeted feedback, and prepares extra challenge material for advanced learners. It’s small-group instruction that actually functions like one-on-one.
Both Small Group AND One-on-One, Under One Roof
Most learning centers offer one or the other. Dreams Tutoring offers both — and makes it easy to combine them. Students who thrive in groups can start there. Students who need more individual focus can add one-on-one sessions. Many of our students use both, and the transition is seamless because they already know and trust their teacher.
Deep Knowledge of NYC's Exam Landscape
The New York City specialized school admissions process is unlike anything elsewhere in the country. We know the SHSAT, the Pre-SHSAT, the Mark Twain exam, the SAT, and the Regents exams — not from a prep book, but from years of preparing Brooklyn students for these exact tests. We know the patterns, the pitfalls, and the strategies that move scores.
Transparent Parent Communication
Parents never have to wonder how their child is doing. Academic students receive mid-term and end-of-term report cards. SHSAT and SAT students receive a detailed score report after every single mock exam. And whenever you drop off or pick up your child, our teachers are available for a check-in. No surprises. No uncertainty.
Our Approach to Teaching:
Connection, Confidence, Results
We believe
The most important thing a teacher can do is make a student feel safe enough to try — and safe enough to get it wrong.
Before we teach content, we build connection. Ms. Kuang has always told her teachers: if the students don’t like you, they won’t come back. And if they don’t come back, nothing else matters. So every teacher at Dreams Tutoring takes time, from day one, to understand who each student is — their learning style, their confidence level, what frustrates them, and what motivates them.
We are not a “tiger mom” tutoring center. We don’t believe in burying students under pressure and piles of homework. We believe that when a child is confident, they try harder. When they try harder, they improve. When they improve, they become the kind of self-directed learner who doesn’t need to be pushed anymore.
That shift — from dreading homework to actually enjoying a challenge — is what we’re working toward with every student, every session.
Our promise to every family:
- We'll be honest about where your child stands — and how to improve
- We'll communicate consistently so you're never left wondering
- We'll adapt our approach if something isn't working
- We'll celebrate every win, big or small, because confidence is built one small victory at a time

- High school students needing Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II support
- Students needing Chemistry or Physics tutoring (one-on-one available)

Not the right fit
- Students needing intensive intervention for diagnosed learning disabilities (we are happy to refer to appropriate specialists)
- Families expecting results without student commitment — our approach requires students to engage, attend, and do their work
- Students needing AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, or subjects beyond Algebra 2 for group
- instruction (we can refer to trusted colleagues for these)

Why We Love This Work
In Ms. Kuang’s words:
I’ve been in classrooms for over two decades, and the moment that keeps me going is always the same: when a student who thought they couldn’t do something suddenly realizes they can. That shift — from “I’m bad at math” to “wait, I actually understand this” — is everything. And it doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from someone taking the time to connect with that student as a person first.
That’s why I built Dreams Tutoring the way I did. Small classes. Real teachers. No shortcuts. And always, always — the student first.
If that sounds like the kind of learning environment your child needs, we’d love to meet your family. Come try a lesson. See how it feels. We’re not going anywhere.

Ready to Give Your Child the Support They Deserve?
Every child learns differently. Every family has different goals. At Dreams Tutoring, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all education — and we’re not going to ask you to commit to a full term before your child has had a chance to experience what we do.
Start with a free trial lesson. Meet the teacher. See the classroom. Watch your child’s face light up when someone finally explains it in a way that clicks.
That moment is what we work for.
No commitment required. No pressure. Just expert guidance.
